At North County Animal Hospital, we are pleased to offer outstanding veterinary medical care for your pet. From a routine wellness exam, to surgery, and all the required care thereafter, we are here to help you. So that we can provide the best service possible, we limit our treatment to dogs and cats. Another aspect of our service we are sure you will appreciate is that we have the ability to send out diagnostic results done in our building (such as x-rays and bloodwork) to board certified doctors for review. This allows Dr. Sinko to work with multiple doctors and makes it easier on clients and pets since they don’t have to go somewhere else for another appointment.

The list below shows some of the services we offer – if you have questions about something not listed here, please contact us and we will be happy to help! Or you may request an appointment.

Dental Care Joined with Gardens Animal Hospital
4290 / 4300 Northlake Blvd
Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410

Dental Care

Pet dental care is as important to your pet’s health as it is to your health. Not only does poor dental care lead to bad breath, which is obviously unpleasant, but it can also lead to painful gum disease. Gum disease in turn can cause other serious illnesses, such as heart and kidney disease.

If your dog or cat has bad breath, that’s a very good indication of dental problems, and the sooner this is addressed, the more likely it can be brought under control. Bad breath is caused by bacteria, which causes plaque and tartar buildup. Yellowing teeth, loose or missing teeth, and red, inflamed gums occur as the disease progresses. The use of treats designed to control plaque are helpful, but they are not enough to prevent dental disease altogether.

Pet Dental Care of the Finest Quality

At North County Animal Hospital, we recommend that you allow us to assess your pet’s dental health with a cursory visual exam of teeth and gums to determine if there are issues that need to be addressed. If so, we might recommend a more in-depth analysis requiring sedation, or a thorough dental cleaning above and below the gums. In the event that your pet’s teeth are in good health, we can offer advice on how to keep them that way with good preventative dental care.

Pet dental care, including regular dental check-ups and teeth cleaning, can help prevent decay and other dental problems from developing. Your pet will thank you with fresh breath and a happy disposition. Your pet’s dental health is important to us, as we know it is to you. Contact our veterinary team in Jupiter to discuss your pet dental care needs and ask us how we can help. Call (561) 746-7496 today!

Health Certificates

North County Animal Hospital is happy to offer international & domestic health certificate services to our clients who are preparing to travel with their pet. If you have a trip coming up, or would like to plan one, please read the details below regarding the differences between international & domestic travel with a pet, as well as where you can find more information on the requirements. If you have any remaining questions, you may call or contact us online!

International Health Certificates:

International travel can be very complex especially since each country has it’s own set of rules and requirements. Each of these requirements have to be met exactly as written and are usually time sensitive. With this being said, please let us know as soon as you know your travel dates. Listed below is the link for the USDA website that contains the most up to date database for most countries:

Domestic Health Certificates:

Domestic travel is significantly less complicated but can also be time sensitive so it’s still best to let us know your travel dates as soon as possible. The requirements for these certificates are given by whichever airline you choose to fly with. It is best to call the airline or check their website regarding when they require an examination of your pet prior to travel (usually between 10 to 30 days). Some airlines simply require a rabies certificate and nothing else so it’s always best to check.

In-House Laboratory

We are very proud of our laboratory. We are able to perform many diagnostic tests quickly and efficiently in it. We can do many simple tests but are also able to offer some more complex ones, too! We are able to run heartworm tests, leukemia and FIV tests, and full blood work for those who are interested in it. There are also many other tests we offer our patients.

The best part of being able to run laboratory tests in our hospital is that we can diagnose your pets much sooner than if we had to send the blood work out to another laboratory. Whenever your pets are not feeling well, we can offer you results and a diagnosis in minutes instead of making you wait a day (or more) for the results.

Vaccinations Joined with Gardens Animal Hospital
4290 / 4300 Northlake Blvd
Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410

Vaccinations

Pet vaccinations are vital to shield dogs & cats from many infectious and often deadly diseases. Vaccinations can help your pet live a long, healthy life. Though vaccines have basically eliminated many diseases fatal to pets, there are still diseases that pose a significant threat to unvaccinated pets in Jupiter. As a caring and responsible pet owner, it is important to know which vaccines are essential to your particular pet, and when they should be updated.

There are some pet vaccines necessary to the health and safety of all dogs and cats, whereas some pet vaccines need only be administered dependent on your pet’s particular lifestyle. Factors can include their risk based on exposure to certain diseases due to their environment, or changes that occur throughout a pet’s life. We take all these factors into account when we recommend which vaccines your pet should have administered.

Over Vaccination?

Dogs and cats do build up some level of immunity and might not need to be vaccinated as often. This doesn’t mean that you do nothing. A vaccine titer (requires a small blood samples sent to the lab) is a valuable tool for Dr. Sinko to determine if indeed your dog has a sufficient immunity to the disease if they were challenged with it.

Rabies vaccination is required by the county/state for all dogs and cats over 4 months of age. Rabies is a zoonotic disease and can be transmitted to humans. Rabies is deadly. Rabies vaccination can be given every year or every 3 years. Again, there is a vaccine titer available if you are concerned with over vaccinating your pet.

Leptospirosis is an up and coming problem. The University of Florida Veterinary College reported to all veterinarians that they saw a significant spike in cases in 2014. Lepto can be difficult to diagnose as it doesn’t provide a clear cut set of symptoms. Symptoms can be vague and sporadic and lacking consistency. Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease which means it CAN be transmitted from dog to human. Humans can contract the disease by cleaning up the urine of an infected or ‘carrier’ pet. Pets can contract leptospirosis from coming in contact with the contaminated urine of the primary carriers; raccoons, possums, rats and squirrels. We have plenty of those in Florida and adding the tropical climate and sprinkling re-claimed water makes it’s is a perfect environment for the disease.

Canine influenza is a newly emerging infectious disease caused by a “flu” virus. Just like human “flu,” canine influenza is highly contagious. In fact, unless a dog has already had the illness and recovers, virtually every dog exposed to the virus will become infected. Since 2003, there have been numerous reports of influenza outbreaks in veterinary clinics, kennels and shelters. The most common sign of canine influenza is a persistent cough. It’s hard to diagnose canine influenza because many times it can be confused with kennel coughsince the signs are very similar. Often canine influenza is not suspected until the illness becomes unusually severe or lasts an unusually long time. Canine influenza spreads the same way that human flu spreads – through direct contact (kissing, licking, nuzzling), through the air (coughing or sneezing), and via contaminated surfaces. A new canine influenza vaccine is available and has been proven to significantly reduce the severity of influenza and the length of time that a dog is sick. Please call us today to find out more information on canine influenza and if your dog should be vaccinated.

Our doctors at North County Animal Hospital are well-trained to assess the vaccination needs of your individual pet. We will recommend a vaccination program based on your individual pet’s risk factors, including a schedule for booster shots. It is our goal to make sure our animal friends live long, healthy, and happy lives, free from preventable diseases.

Scheduling pet vaccinations is an important decision in your dog or cat’s health and well-being – please don’t put this off. Contact our veterinary team in Jupiter and set up an appointment to discuss your pet’s vaccination needs. Call

At Home Pet Euthanasia

Euthanizing a pet is never easy. At North County Animal Hospital we recognize this and do things differently. Your family will be placed in a quiet room. We will explain the process in full and allow you and your family as much time as you need before beginning the process. Some families choose to stay and some don’t. Either way, it is a very personal decision and we respect either.

All pets regardless of age or condition will be sedated. Dr. Sinko will give an analgesic injection that will make your pet very sleepy and most often completely asleep. Believe it or not, most patients at other clinics aren’t sedated prior to euthanasia. By sedating a patient their passing is much more peaceful.

If you prefer, Dr. Sinko can come to your home for euthanasia.

We offer cremation and your family can decide if you would like the remains returned to you.

At Home Euthanasia Services

We offer at home euthanasia services for clients and new clients and patients.

When it’s time to say goodbye you can choose to do it in clinic or in the comfort of your home.

We bring everything necessary. We will discuss the entire process. You can choose to stay with your pet the entire time or some prefer to wait in another room once they are sedated. We are compassionate and caring and understand what a difficult time this is for your family. We will handle everything with love.

If you have any questions about euthanasia please feel free to call our office at (561) 746-7496 and Dr. Sinko will be happy to discuss it with you.

Treatment for Parvovirus

Dr. Sinko is known as the “Parvo Doc” by many rescue organizations in the Jupiter area. Rescues often experience a high volume of parvo when dealing with puppies that have unknown vaccine histories. In working with them, we have gained a lot of experience in working with such a high volume of parvo cases.

Treating parvo is not “one size fits all”. Every parvo case treatment will differ slightly and the tests we do will differ depending on the pet, their symptoms, size and severity of disease. In many cases, we have discovered that the pets are not only are fighting parvo but will also be fighting another opportunistic disease. In a case like this, if you don’t know it and don’t test for it – then you aren’t treating it. This is like leaving a piece of the puzzle out and can be very dangerous.

Parvo lasts a full 7 days, and most pets recover at the 7 day mark. At North County Animal Hospital, we have about a 90% success rate with treatment.

Your pet’s survival and successful recovery depends on you bringing them in at the first sign and not letting their symptoms progress too far.

Parvo is a horrible experience to watch dogs go through, and our team is aware that this may be a difficult time for you and your pet. We are here to support you through the process. With our expert care, and your love through the entire treatment, your pet will have the best outcome possible.
